This half day workshop is an introduction to biointensive vegetable production, composting, poultry integration and mushroom production on an urban scale.
Whether you are just getting started with growing your own food or have been wanting to grow more, this workshop will get you skilled up and growing more food at home.
The workshop combines fun hands on and sit down sessions with detailed course notes full of practical skills and resources.
Session 1 will cover seedling propagation, bed prep, biointensive crop spacing and chemical free crop protection methods to maximise your productivity of nutrient dense veggies in a small space.
Session 2 covers the art of composting, integrating poultry and how we make organic liquid fertilisers to help boost soil biology and plant growth. We can’t wait to show you how we produce all of our own soil amendments on-site!
In session 3, you'll discover how easy it is to grow your own supply of fresh oyster mushrooms and the steps involved in simple mushroom cultivation.
The workshop takes place at our home and urban micro-farm in the lower Blue Mountains. Jo and I operate a small scale urban market garden,
supplying veggie boxes to local residents and businesses, as well as for our own family. We love sharing the skills we have learned over the past decade to maximise food production and minimise waste. Head home with our detailed course notes and resources to get you started on your own successful urban scale micro-farming journey, plus some free seeds and seedlings, a mushroom bag and other goodies to get you started!
